Here is a scene from the TV movie "The Longest Hundred Miles" (Universal PIctures, 1967). Shot entirely on location in the Philippines, the movie starred Doug McClure as Corp. Steve Bennett, a US Army soldier staioned in the Philippines during world war II who escapes the Bataan death march and finds refuge in a church full or orphans run by Father Sanchez, played by Ricardo Montalban ("Fantasy Island") and a beautiful young US Navy nurse, Lt. Laura Huntington (Katharine Ross). One of the orphans is a pretty young Filipina girl named Maria who is nursing a broken leg . The little girl is played by none other than famous Philippine dramatic actress Vilma Santos, or "Ate Vi" (Big sister Vi) as she is known to her fans. Vilma Santos is currently the Governor of the Philippine province of Batangas.
